Thursday Poetry Prompt #5 – Displaced Divinity

Shall I come to you

As Zeus came to Danae
a gold and glittering shower?
Would you then know my power
know the scope of my heart?
Or would worlds rend apart
with my selfish pandering
to a devotee that sees
more than just a Goddess
who does not fall to his knees
but worships in silence
in portrait and prose
I could move mountains to be
with him, but the isn’t the rose
only half as sweet
when it’s forced to bloom?
I fear there is not room
In Heaven or Hades
for displaced deities
who’s heart has been conquered
by mortal Muses
